Blue Spotted Pufferfish
Blue Spotted Pufferfish is part of the Quarantine Zoo project series. In March 2020 when the world thought that the COVID 19 pandemic would be short-lived, I started an online art project called the Quarantine Zoo. I focused on highlighting endangered or extinct species. For more about the project see this blogpost.
The fish shape is appliqué by machine and the entire fish is heavily hand-embroidered. It is quilted by hand with Valdani perle cotton variegated indigo thread.
I create all my work in my studio overlooking the Puget Sound on Whidbey Island. All designs are original and are copyrighted by me. My studio is smoke-free and pet-free.
Materials used: cottons with perle cotton embroidery and quilting
Hanging device: wood slat attached to the upper back lining
Year created: 2020
Dimensions
11x15.5”
Care: Avoid hanging in direct sunlight. To remove dust, brush lightly with a lint roller.
