We’re Coming to Get You
We’re Coming to Get You is part of my Pandemic Birds series. It was inspired by the rampant fear we experienced before the COVID vaccine became available. There is a Morse Code message embedded in the stitching. I wrote a blog post about this series which you can read here.
I used a raw-edge collage technique with machine and hand embroidery. The entire piece was quilted by hand using a Kantha quilting style. The piece is embroidered with variegated Perle cotton thread.
I create all my work in my studio overlooking the Puget Sound on Whidbey Island. All designs are original and are copyrighted by me. My studio is smoke-free and pet-free.
Materials used: up-cycled designer linens, hand-dyed cottons, Valdani perle cotton thread
Hanging device: wood slat attached to the upper back lining
Year created: 2021
Dimensions
12.5x15”
Care: Avoid hanging in direct sunlight. To remove dust, brush lightly with a lint roller.
